He was the cinematographer for Jim Jarmusch's first two movies. He turned crappy from there.
Living in Oblivion (1995) -- The first twenty to thirty minutes of this movie is Steve Buschemi playing the stereotypical director of a stereotypical indie film, trying to shoot one scene in which something messes up for like twenty takes in a row. Finally he wakes up and it was all a nightmare (seriously), and then the movie moves on to something even more frustrating. Then I turned it off.
